What starters can I choose in the game?
You can pick between either the Grass-type turtle Turtwig, the Fire-type monkey Chimchar or the Water-type penguin Piplup. In Diamond & Pearl you get your starter at Lake Verity while in Platinum it is given to you by Professor Rowan. Your rival will then take the starter with the type advantage against yours while Lucas/Dawn will have the one weak to yours.

Where can I find the Move Relearner, Deleter and Name Rater?
The Move Relearner is located in Pastoria City, the Move Deleter in Canalave City and the Name Rater in Eterna City.
How do I soft reset?
Hold down L+R+Start+Select. Soft resetting can be helpful in certain situations, like resetting for a gift Pokemon (such as starters) for a certain gender, IVs, nature, shininess etc.
How do I chain for Shiny Pokemon?
The random encounter for Shiny Pokemon is 1 in 8,192. With the PokeRadar, chaining makes Shiny Pokemon easier to obtain but unfortunately this does not work on overworld Pokemon like Drifloon, Rotom, Legendaries or those found via surfing or fishing.
How do I get the National Pokedex?
You must see all the Sinnoh Dex Pokemon. Dialga (Pearl) or Palkia (Diamond) can be added after reading a book in Cynthia's house, located in Celestic Town. All the others can be seen in the wild or by battling Trainers. To get Manaphy seen in Platinum, follow the same method for seeing Dialga/Palkia but instead go to Mr. Backlot's mansion on Route 212. There are 151 Pokemon in the D/P Sinnoh Dex, and 210 in Platinum. Manaphy is not required in Diamond & Pearl but is required in Platinum.

Amity Square is a location in Hearthome City where you can walk around with certain Pokemon to find items like Berries or Contest Accessories.

You need to have the Movie 11/Toys R Us Regigigas transferred over. If you have Regigigas with you, you can catch Regirock, Regice and Registeel. They are found at Route 228, Mt. Coronet's Route 216 exit and Iron Island respectively.
I'm playing with a DS/DS Lite, what happens when I insert a 3rd Gen game?
This activates dual-slot mode, where you can find Pokemon that you couldn't find otherwise.
